Introduction: What is Design and Why Does it Matter?
Design is about creating something that is beautiful, useful and memorable. We all need to pay attention to the design of our work because it matters.
Designers are problem solvers. They need to be creative and think outside the box in order to create a good design. To be successful, designers must think about what people want and need from their product or service; how it will make people feel; how it will improve their quality of life; how well it works for them as individuals and for society as a whole; and whether the product or service has staying power.
Design is the process of conceptualizing and executing an idea.
This design process consists of a number of sequential stages, including requirements analysis, information architecture (IA) and interaction design (IxD). It also involves creating wireframes and mockups that can be used to visualize different types of layouts and interfaces.
Designers must be creative in using their imagination to develop ideas that are practical and meet the needs of the people who will use them. They must also be able to create designs that are visually pleasing, as well as functional.

Designers face a lot of constraints when designing their products. They are tasked with delivering products that are visually pleasing, ergonomic and intuitive.

A prototype is a representation of the projected design or behavior of a system. It is an important tool for designers to simulate the end result and identify potential drawbacks that may not have been foreseen.
A prototype can be made into an interactive application, an interactive site, a static presentation, or even just a series of sketched screens. Prototyping has been around for decades and it has undergone changes in different stages. Nowadays, many companies use prototyping as both a strategy and as an essential part of their design process for looking into problems before they even begin work on product development.

Step 4: Evaluate and Refine
UX designers are responsible for creating all the interactive components on a website, from the icons and layout to the animations and transitions. They are also responsible for creating an intuitive user interface. UI designers on the other hand, create the visual design of a web or mobile app.
Both UX and UI designers have different career paths. UX designers can work as researchers, project managers, information architects or conversion rate optimizers while UI designer can be found in roles like graphic artists, product designers or interface developers. Both fields require skills in user research, knowledge management and visual thinking to succeed in their field.
